She's Got to be a Relative!

The Shoebox
A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years.
They had shared everything. They had talked about everything.
They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little
old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had
cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.
For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but
one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said
She would not recover. In trying to sort out their affairs, the little

old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside.
She agreed that it was time that he should know what was
in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls
and a stack of money totalling $95,000.
He asked her about the contents. 'When we were to be married,'
she said, 'my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage
was to never argue.. She told me that if I ever got angry with you,
I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.'
The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two
precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two
times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with
happiness.
'Honey,' he said, 'that explains the dolls, but what about all of this money?
Where did it come from?'
'Oh,' she said, 'that's the money I made from selling the dolls.'

It's Becki Day on the Blog!

Heres' that cute little blondie, Becki on the steps with cousins (Uncle Garl's boys--I'm guessing Kerry and Garlan?)
Becki with Grandma Miller at Uncle Gail's funeral services, Cedron Cemetery

Grammie Becki with 3 of the Wardlings (Clyde's children)

4 of Becki's 5 children are pictured here with some of the grandchildren at Maylee and Jared's Ring Ceremony. Clyde kneeling in front, his wife Ashley to the right with 2 of their 5 children, Rusty and his wife in back row on either side of Ed, holding 2 of their children, Ricky and his wife Mayra standing in front of him, next to Becki and Aunt Sandra (Ed's brother's wife and keeper of the famous condo!) Clyde's 2 daughters Erin and Libby are in front row. Jared's son and Clyde's son are also in the front. Becki's son Sammy is not pictured.

Becki's oldest son Clyde, his wife Ashley and their family
Becki and Ed, their 5 children and grandchildren are the "Carolina Kids" They all reside back in either North or South Carolina. Becki and Ed are at Myrtle Beach. I'm hoping some of the Carolina Kids write in and tell us what they are up to and where they are! Love Y'All!

The First Ride of Spring!

For her 11th Birthday, Bam shipped one of the biggest gifts to Mandy. She told her it was coming late one night via horse trailer. It was Noah, the last of Dad's herd. We stayed up until midnight, waiting for this big boy to arrive. She and I both cried when we saw him. It has been so much fun to have him, and feel like a little piece of Papa is right here with us. He's such a good horse. I sometimes think he thinks that he's just a big dog. He's our very gentle pet. Today we were checking the fences and Mandy decided to hop on his back. The Space Shuttle and The Stewart's!

This photo was submitted by Uncle Tom Stewart who said it was taken by a fishing buddy of his on a bridge across the Intercoastal Waterway at Palm Valley, and it is acutally just down the street from their daughter Dawn's house!
I went hunting in photo albums on Facebook and found these pictures to post! Information there is limited, so if any of you would like to write and tell us more, we'd love to hear from you!
We need updates---where you live, what you do, how many children and photos!
Here's Tom Jr., Dad (Tom), Mom (Aloa), Steve and Dawn.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!
Here's a recipe from Auntie Aloa, forwarded from Auntie Nelda that will stop you in your tracks!

It's The World's most Dangerous Cake, because at any time of the day or night, you are only 5 minutes away from a personal chocolate cake!

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.EAT !

(this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous , or you could just make 2 cakes... ).

Pictures From Erika!

Mom sent me this Christmas card of Erika (Don's daughter, Aunt Nola's granddaughter) and her husband Aaron with their little guy Alex. Cute little family!
After my post of her Dad on the motorcycle, she emailed me and had more information on that picture. It's one that her mom, Diane took of Don while driving down the road--for the record, Erika was driving! She said that her Dad built that "Beast" piece by piece and painted it.
Here are a few of the photos she emailed me. Thanks Erika!

Grandma and Grandpa Sundgren with their 3 Grandchildren:
Chloe Jewel 2, Cammie Lynn 9, and Alex James 3.

Gram and Alex November 2009. Priceless!

Erika's favorite of her Aunt Misty, Dad (Don) and Uncle Adam!
I'm guessing late 1960's.

Name that Beach Boy!

Any idea who this little cutie is? If I'm not mistaken, it looks like this little surfer man is hanging ten with his AUNTIE at Coeur d'Alene Lake.
(Correction: I didn't even recognize my own Mom, but this was taken way before my time!)

Here he is a few years later, cruising the boulevard. The story is told of when he was young and riding in the car, he asked his Aunt Nelda what kind of a car she was driving. When she replied, "a Cadillac" he was quick to inform her that he never wanted that kind of a car,
because it didn't go very fast!
Here is his son and daughter Chloe getting ready to hit the open road!
You guessed it, it's Auntie Nola's son Don, grandson Don C and great granddaughter Chloe,
who live in Alaska!

Grandma and Grandpa Miller

While we all have our favorite stories and pictures of Grandma and Grandpa Miller, this one from Uncle Garth and Aunt Bobbie has got to be my favorite. It just makes me smile. Uncle Garth tells the story of when they lived in Idaho, seveal hours drive from the Valley. Each time they visited Grandma and Grandpa Miller, they would insist on sending food, etc. home with them. This trip it happens to be a sheep! Yes, a sheep, with a bale of hay for the road! You can see the little head of a child in the front seat of that car, and the shadow of Uncle Garth taking the photo!

You can visit the Cedron Cemetary at this link:
