The Garth Miller Family
This photo sent in by Uncle Garth and Aunt Bobbie Miller was taken on their 50th wedding anniversary in 2003. Note that the photo was taken before any great grandchildren joined the family, so their family has grown since then. Thanks for sharing with all of us on the blog! Here's what they said about their special day:
"What was really special about our 50th anniversary is that we got to do a Temple session at the Orlando Temple with all six of our children, five of their spouses, two grandchildren and their spouses, and my niece (who was maid of honor at our wedding) and her husband. Garth was the officiator on the session and I was the follower; our son, Robin and his wife were the witness couple. So altogether there were 19 of us family members in that session (other patrons also). Having all of our children in the Temple with us on that day was a dream come true. "

A Treasured Antique
My memories of Grandma Goldie stretch beyond this life, as I never had the opportunity to know her here on Earth. Mom found out she was expecting me shortly after Grandma Goldie left this world. I can say I felt a closeness to her when I had my gallbladder surgery. I had some serious complications and ended up undergoing the procedure three times. I was the 2% they don't tell you about! I recall waking up from the last surgery and asking the nurse to talk to the lady that had held my hand. She said, "Dear, there was no one here." I knew there had been and I knew exactly who it was.
I have a treasured antique, (that stills works beautifully) that I imagine her sitting at sewing for her family. I'm sure they played around her as she stitched. There's even evidence that one of her children practiced his penmanship!
Someday I will pass this treasured antique along to my daughter, who also, never knew her Baba. I found out I was expecting her when Bear was in Canada at the funeral.
But I believe these grandmothers have a bond that extends beyond the veil.

Here's the follow-up on that trip to Mexico!
Auntie Nola said...
I had waited 73 years to go to Mexico, and the wait was worth it. It was a trip I'll never forget for many reasons. Reason one I was with my family and what a fun family they are. It was Misty, Dan, Erik and Brian. We shared a very nice condo on the 6th floor of a very modern complex. Reason two, Nelda had been warning me about the political problems going on there so I was armed with my pepper spray. I was looking behind every cactus(oh how I loved those big cacti). Try as we might we did not see or encounter any bandits. I guess no one wanted families with kids and grandmas.Reason three, the biggest earthquake ever, in that part on Mexico. It was a 7.2 the center was 50 miles from us. We felt it very clear. I have never been in one that size before. We had them in Alaska and several in Japan as we travelled there, but none in the sevens. Security ask us all to go to the ocean away from the buildings then they told us to go away from the ocean (didn't want BIG wave to get us)we went to the front of the complex waited. Language was a little problem.. No one was talking slow for US foreigners. No problems at all. The rest of the stay was beautiful and uneventful. As we listened to others talk about it, the stories get better but we just enjoyed the moments.Lots of reasons to not forget but just to enjoy life is the best reason.
